Dear Google Plus,
You may have noticed that I haven’t been around for a while. I know we only just met, but it felt like we’d known each other for years. Perhaps because you reminded me of others that I’ve been with for a long time.
It’s hard for me to tell you this, but you won’t be seeing me again. You see, I just don’t have time for a serious social media relationship right now. If you’re feeling sad about it, have a talk to Facebook. We ended it a few months ago, and I think we’ve both moved on to better places than we would have been in had we stayed together. Sure, I still drop by to visit a Facebook page or two – but it’s a different relationship now that it’s purely professional. I must admit that I’m thinking about leaving Twitter too, but we have a more casual relationship that withstands a bit of neglect when the rest of my life is busy.
Really, I think I’m too old-fashioned for you. I like my phone calls and letters and emails and BBQs too much to give them up for you. And I can’t see you being happy to share me with so many others.
You won’t miss me for long. It seems there’s a queue of friendly faces who want to start something new with you.
xxooxx E
